Let's travel back in time to your first day in the company. What was it like?
It was more than four years ago, and it was Halloween time. On the very first day, I learned about the corporate tradition to dress up for holiday right in the office. Make-up artists were invited and everyone interested could participate. I was interested, but I was a newcomer and felt a little uncomfortable and shy. My worries and doubts vanished the moment someone grabbed my hand and said "Let's go." That's how I realized that my decision to accept the job offer and even move to another city because of it was right.
Your nickname is Asmirnova. What does it mean for you?
It's the first letter of my name plus my surname. When HR asked me to pick a nickname, I thought it was for a corporate email only. Little did I know my nickname would be across all corporate systems. If I had a chance to change it, I wouldn't. Maybe my nickname is too serious, but my position is serious too. So, it's a match.
When I joined the company, there was no Business Intelligence department at all. I was the first Analyst and I started to bring order and discipline to the way data was collected and analyzed. That's why some coworkers called me the company's “Goddess of Organization.”
Let's talk about your team. What role does it play for MacKeeper?
Everyone thinks we are business analytics, but we're not. We are a Business Intelligence (BI) team. And there's a big difference between the two. Business analytics collect requests and report them to developers. (Basically, they are a medium between clients and developers). We, BI Specialists, work with the data. We help other departments problem solve their data needs and measure the effectiveness of their work quantitatively.
I'll give you an example. Let's say we need to optimize the work of our Call Center. So we analyze how many calls were processed during each shift, how many calls were missed, etc. That's how we learn what hours are the busiest and assign more people on these shifts. As a result, more calls are processed, fewer calls are missed, customer satisfaction rates go up.
Our tasks are investigative in nature, and they have a direct impact on the quality of our end product.
Describe your typical day at work.
My morning starts with coffee. A cup of cappuccino is what helps me set myself up for work. Then I check my email. And this is the point at which everything "typical" ends.
Sometimes I spend the whole day on a report trying to get into the nuts and bolts of it, searching for a mistake, or adding some new details. Sometimes all eight hours are spent talking to people from other departments and trying to clarify some details.
What do you like the most/the least about your job?
What I hate the most is when I have to redo what's already done, especially, when it happens after a few rounds of discussions and final approval. Such situations do not happen often, but when they do, I think "Damn it!" and start working on a task from scratch.
What I love the most is when people see the results of my job and say "Wow, cool, this is exactly what we need!" I always go the extra mile and add to my reports some details people did not ask for but I know will benefit from. Doing this and receiving positive feedback motivates me to bring even more value and happiness to our corporate home.
Name three character traits or skills that are necessary for your job.
Diligence. Attention to detail. And . . . the ability to work in a team. In analytics, sometimes you dive too deep into details, and you can't find your way out. It’s then that you need the help of a team to find a solution.
If you could choose any superpower to help you with your job, what would it be?
Mind reading. This superpower would help me understand what people mean when they assign tasks but forget to explain what they need properly.

Is there something about your job that you're proud of?
Sure. I was the first Business Intelligence expert in the company. I was the person who launched and scaled almost the entire analytical system from scratch.
On days when you lack motivation for work, what helps you to pull yourself up and do it?
People. I know that if I manage to get out of bed and come to the office, the people I'll see there will help me wake up and get inspired.
And coffee. Without coffee, you will only get so far. (I should say "Hi" to our corporate barista, Tanya. “Thank you!”)
What is your personal anti-stress recipe? How do you recharge after a busy week at work?
I have two options. The first — my dancing classes — is for any time of the year. This is what saves me in any situation, no matter how stressful it is. The second option — a bubble bath and a glass of wine — works best for the winter months. It is my personal anti-stress kit.
If you could swap places with any employee in a company for one month, who would this be? Why?
I'd like to try event planning. I know it wouldn't be a professional growth for me, but it is something I find interesting and I would grow personally from it. When people ask me what would I do if I had to quit analytics, I say I'd work in event management.
Describe your perfect job. What field/company size/role is it?
For me, company size does not matter. The most important part is to feel valued. It is important to know that people around not only listen to you, but hear you. It is important to work on a product or service that can improve other people's lives, and it is important to believe in what you do. Otherwise you'll have to push yourself really hard to get out of bed and go to the office.
Now imagine you've got a job offer of your dreams. It's too good to reject, so you're leaving. What piece of advice would you give the company and your team before you head out?
I'd wish them continuous improvement and that they never stop going forward. I'd wish for them to conquer the world and prove that our company can achieve the best.
