Richtlinie des Sicherheitsforschungszentrums

In der heutigen Welt sind wir mehr und mehr an Internetdienste, Software und Hardware-Geräte gebunden.

Wir geben unsere Daten Banken, medizinischen Einrichtungen und Arbeitgebern. Wir geben unsere Daten Smartphones, Smart TVs, Smart Watches, und anderen „intelligenten Dingen“ in unseren Wohnungen, und diese bewahren unsere Daten für gewöhnlich für uns unkontrollierbar in Remotedatenbanken auf. Diese Technologien sind fest in unserem Leben verankert, in vielen Fällen sind wir von ihnen abhängig. Und das macht uns angreifbar, wenn die Technologie versagt oder unsere Daten nicht ordnungsgemäß geschützt sind.

Unsere Forschung

Wir betreiben Sicherheitsforschung, um Datenexpositionen in den Datenbanken verschiedener Firmen, Organisationen und Institutionen aufzufinden.

Üblicherweise verwenden wir die Shodan-Suchmaschine, um ungeschützte, mit dem Internet verbundene Geräte zu ermitteln. Diese Suchmaschine ist öffentlich zugänglich und ermöglicht es Forschern, Geräte und Datenbanken zu identifizieren, welche mit dem offenen Internet verbunden sind, jedoch die in ihnen gespeicherten Daten nicht mit Kennwort oder anderen technischen Barrieren schützen. Wir knacken keine Kennwörter oder Authentifizierungsprozesse und setzen keine sonstigen Hackertricks ein.

Sobald wir eine öffentlich exponierte Datenbank aufspüren, melden wir dies gemäß den folgenden Richtlinien:

  • Wo das angemessen ist, versorgen wir diejenigen Unternehmen, Organisationen oder Institutionen, deren Selbstschutz nicht funktioniert hat, mit Einzelheiten zur Datenexposition.
  • Wir verändern die gefundenen Daten nicht.
  • Wir geben den Betroffenen Zeit zur Behebung der Datenexposition, bevor wir irgendwelche Details an die Öffentlichkeit leiten – was andernfalls weitere Risiken nach sich ziehen könnte.
  • Wir leiten keine Daten an Dritte weiter.

Weshalb machen wir das?

Wir haben im Sicherheitsforschungszentrum folgende Ziele:

  • Unterstützung von Unternehmen bei der Optimierung ihrer Sicherheit durch das Erkennen von Datenlecks und
  • Sensibilisierung der Öffentlichkeit für die Gefahren von Datenschutzverletzungen und Sicherheitsrisiken in der vernetzten Welt
