Règles du Centre de recherche sur la sécurité

Dans notre monde actuel, Internet, les nouvelles technologies et les appareils connectés jouent un rôle de plus en plus important.

Nous partageons nos données avec des banques, des établissements de santé ou encore notre employeur. Nous partageons aussi nos données avec des smartphones, des montres, des maisons et des téléviseurs connectés, et d'autres appareils dits « intelligents » qui bien souvent stockent également ces informations dans des bases de données distantes sur lesquelles nous n'avons aucun contrôle. Ces technologies font désormais partie intégrante de notre vie, et pour la plupart d'entre nous, nous ne pouvons plus nous en passer. En cas de défaillance technologique ou de protection insuffisante de nos informations, nous sommes vulnérables.

Notre travail de recherche

Nous réalisons des recherches sur la sécurité en essayant d'identifier des fuites provenant des bases de données de différentes entreprises, organisations, institutions, etc.

La plupart du temps, nous utilisons le moteur de recherche Shodan pour localiser des appareils connectés à Internet qui ne sont pas protégés. Ce moteur de recherche est en accès libre. Il permet aux spécialistes de la sécurité informatique d'identifier les appareils et les bases de données connectés à l'Internet public sans aucune protection par mot de passe ni autre dispositif technologique visant à protéger les données stockées. Nous ne crackons pas les mots de passe et nous n'utilisons pas de processus d'authentification ni aucune autre technique de piratage.

Lorsque nous détectons une base de données exposant publiquement des informations, nous respectons les principes ci-dessous pour signaler le problème :

  • Le cas échéant, nous informons l'entreprise ou l'organisation concernée qui n'a pas protégé ses données de la faille que nous avons identifiée.
  • Nous ne modifions pas les données que nous découvrons.
  • Nous laissons à l'entreprise ou l'organisation concernée le temps de corriger la faille identifiée avant d'en rendre compte publiquement, afin d'éviter toute démultiplication des risques.
  • Nous ne transférons pas les données à un tiers.

Nos objectifs

Le Centre de recherche sur la sécurité a un double objectif :

  • Aider les entreprises à renforcer leur sécurité en identifiant les fuites de données, et
  • Sensibiliser le public sur les risques de violation des données et sur les autres menaces pour la sécurité dans notre monde ultra-connecté.

    I enjoyed the ex[pertise of the knowledgeable person on the phone line. I appreciated the knowledge and the rapid way he could handle things. I did feel as though he was pushing too hard about buying the service. I had to say several times that I did not want it. The service was very good....I just didn't like the hard sell approach
