Compartilhamos nossos dados com bancos, instituições médicas e empregadores. Compartilhamos nossos dados com smartphones, smart TVs, smartwatches e outras coisas "inteligentes" em nossos lares que normalmente armazenam essas informações em bancos de dados remotos, fora de nosso controle. Essas tecnologias estão tão integradas em nossas vidas que, em muitos casos, nos tornamos dependentes delas. Assim, ficamos vulneráveis quando ocorrem falhas tecnológicas ou quando nossos dados não são protegidos da forma adequada.

Nossa pesquisa

Realizamos pesquisas de segurança para identificar eventuais vulnerabilidades nos bancos de dados de várias empresas, organizações e instituições.

Normalmente usamos o mecanismo de pesquisa Shodan para localizar dispositivos conectados à Internet e sem proteção. Este mecanismo de pesquisa pode ser acessado publicamente e permite aos pesquisadores identificar dispositivos e bancos de dados que estejam conectados à Internet aberta, sem proteção por senha, ou outra barreira tecnológica para proteger os dados armazenados. Não fazemos a quebra de senhas, não usamos processos de autenticação nem utilizamos de quaisquer truques ilícitos.

Quando detectamos um banco de dados exposto publicamente, relatamos nossas descobertas de acordo com as seguintes diretrizes:

  • Quando adequado, fornecemos detalhes da violação de dados à empresa, organização ou instituição cujas medidas de proteção foram insuficientes.
  • Não modificamos os dados encontrados.
  • Damos tempo suficiente às entidades para que corrijam a exposição dos dados antes de disponibilizarmos os detalhes publicamente, o que poderia gerar novos riscos.
  • Não fazemos a transferência de quaisquer dados para terceiros.

    I enjoyed the ex[pertise of the knowledgeable person on the phone line. I appreciated the knowledge and the rapid way he could handle things.
