Before you uninstall MacKeeper

• Make sure you have admin rights to your device, and you know your Mac admin password
• Check your MacKeeper version: open the app, click MacKeeper in the top-left corner, and select About MacKeeper

• Keep your files safe! Before removing MacKeeper 3.x, remember that:

  • files encrypted with the Data Encryptor feature can’t be accessed without MacKeeper—decrypt them before uninstalling the app
  • backups made with the Backup feature remain on your Mac and can be accessed even after MacKeeper uninstallation

How to make sure you’ve uninstalled MacKeeper:

If you followed the steps above, MacKeeper is already gone—so are any leftover MacKeeper files. The only thing that might be left are temporary folders; however, they’ll automatically empty once you restart your Mac.

Rest assured that MacKeeper didn’t leave anything behind. To double-check, you can go through the following:

• Check that the MacKeeper menu in the top control bar is gone after uninstall

• Go to Finder > Go > Home (Unless you’re actively using an old version of MacKeeper 3.x, you should not see any MacKeeper Backups folder)

• Open Finder > Go > Go to Folder, and copy-paste all these directories

  • ~/Library/Application Support/MacKeeper
  • ~/Library/Application Support/com.mackeeper.MacKeeper
  • ~/Library/Application Support/com.mackeeper.MacKeeperAgent
  • ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.mackeeper.MacKeeperAgent.plist
  • ~/Library/Caches/com.mackeeper.MacKeeper
  • ~/Library/Caches/com.mackeeper.MacKeeperAgent

  If your device can’t find these directories, then MacKeeper has been removed with all its associated files. There’s nothing left for manual review.
