To do this, you’ll first need to reboot your Mac in Recovery Mode. Then open the Terminal app and type in the command csrutil disable, followed by y and Enter. Then restart your device.

Here’s how we would disable SIP on Mac:

  1. Boot your Mac into Recovery Mode.
  2. In Utilities, select Terminal.
  3. Enter csrutil disable.
  4. Restart the device.
To boot your Mac into recovery mode, shut down your Mac and restart it, holding Command + R (Intel) or holding the power button (Apple Silicon) until options appear.

For Intel-based Macs:

  1. Turn off your Mac.
  2. Press the power button while holding down Shift.
  3. Release when you see the login window.
To boot an Intel Mac into Safe Mode, turn off your Mac and wait a couple of seconds. Turn it back on holding the Power button and Shift until you see the login window.

For Apple Silicon Mac:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Press the power button until you see the startup options.
  3. Click on Options.
  4. Choose your startup disk.
  5. Hold down Shift and click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. Then release Shift.

2. Open Terminal from the Utilities menu

Once you’ve booted your Mac into Recovery Mode, you’ll be able to see a Utilities menu–this is where you’ll be able to access and open Terminal to continue with turning off SIP on Mac.

 

Here’s how to open Terminal in Recovery Mode:

  1. Look for Utilities.
  2. Click on Terminal.
Once your device is in Recovery mode, look for the Utilities tab in the top menu bar on your screen. From there, you can click to open Terminal to continue turning off or disabling SIP on Mac.

3. Enter command

Once you’ve opened Terminal in OS Recovery Mode, the next step is to enter the correct command. It must be entered correctly; otherwise, the command will fail.

 

Here’s how to enter the disable SIP command in Terminal:

  1. In Terminal, type in the csrutil disable command.
  2. Hit Enter.
In Terminal, all you need to do is type in csrutil disable to disable SIP. You might need to press Y, but not always. Make sure to hit Enter to ensure you correctly disable SIP on Mac.

4. Restart your Mac
