What are cookies?
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, browser language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.
Most Internet browsers support cookies. However, user is able to manage cookies in his/her browser setting them to decline certain types of cookies or specific cookies, or to indicate when cookie is being sent.
Also most of the world’s well-known websites are using cookies too. Some websites’ features or services may not even function properly without cookies.
What types of cookies do we use?
There are two types of cookies: session cookies and persistent cookies. We use both types of these cookies on our website. Session cookies are temporary and erased right after you close the browser. Persistent cookies remain on your computer or device for a pre-defined period of time. Persistent cookies are used to help us recognize you as an existing user, to remember your preferences, to analyse your behaviour and improve our website functionality. Additionally, persistent cookies allow us to provide you with targeted advertisements and measure the effectiveness of our site functionality and advertising.
There are also two types of cookies that can be classified by the domain to which they belongs: first-party cookies and third-party cookies. And here we use both types too.
First-party cookies are issued from our domain (mackeeper.com). Third-party cookies belong to other parties such as business partners and service providers. Third-party cookies are managed by those partners and providers so we have neither access to them nor the possibility to control them. For example we use Google Analytics cookies.
Cookies and advertising
Cookies and other tracking technologies like pixels, web beacons and tags help us to serve relevant ads to you effectively. Also with the help of listed above technologies we can collect aggregated audit data, carry out researches, make reports for advertisers, better understand and improve our service and know when certain advertisements have been shown to you. You can always opt-out of our cookies and off-site, third-party cookies by adjusting your cookie settings (instructions described below in this Policy). Note that opting out will not remove advertising from the pages you visit but this advertising will no more being matched to your interests.
What to do if you want to reject and delete cookies?
First of all, please note that most browsers accept cookies by default. If you do not want to receive cookies or store them on your computer any more please change your browsing settings and/or delete all received cookies before.
You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see aboutcookies.org. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.
