How to remove Microsoft Teams from Mac?

1. Uninstalling Teams manually

To uninstall Teams on Mac, you can, of course, remove it manually. It will take time as you’ll need to look for all associated files, but it does allow you to remain in control.

 

Our steps will help show you how to uninstall Teams thoroughly yourself:

  1. Quit the Microsoft Teams app.
  2. In Finder, go to your Applications Folder.
  3. Right-click on Teams and press Move to Bin.
  4. Click on Go > Go to Folder and type in the path: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft.
  5. Once you’ve found the Team Folder, right-click and Move to Bin.
  6. Head back to Go to Folder and type in the path: ~/Library/Containers.
  7. Look for com.microsoft.teams and Move to Bin.
  8. Empty Bin.
  9. Restart your Mac.
If you want to uninstall Teams yourself, manually, you’ll first need to make sure that the app and all its processes are closed. You can do this by right-clicking on the Teams app and pressing Quit.
Step 1. Quit the Microsoft Teams app
Next, open Finder. Head to your Applications Folder, and when you find Teams, right-click it. From the options, press Move to Bin.
Step 2. Open your Applications Folder, look for Teams, and Move to Bin
Re-open the Go to Folder search box, and this time copy in the following path ~/Library/Containers. Look for the Teams Folder, right-click on it, and Move it to Bin.
Step 3: Go back to Go to Folder and type in a new path:~/Library/Containers, right-click the Teams Folder and Move to Bin
Open the Go > Go to Folder shortcut and copy in the following path: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft. Look for om.microsoft.teams. Once found, right-click and press Move to Bin.
Step 4. In Finders Go to Folder, type in the path: ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft. and delete the com. microsoft.teams folder
To make sure all traces of the Teams app and associated files are removed from your Mac, you now need to control-click on your Trash Bin. Selected Empty Bin and all Teams files will be uninstalled.

2. Using Terminal to uninstall Teams

For more advanced Mac users, you may wish to try your luck at Terminal, as there are commands that you can enter to remove any app and all its associated data files–this includes direct commands to help you uninstall Teams on Mac.

 

Here’s how to use Terminal to uninstall Microsoft Teams:

  1. Quit the Microsoft Teams app.
  2. In Finder, go to Applications > Utilities and open Terminal.
  3. To remove the Teams app from your Applications folder, put down sudo rm -rf /Applications/Microsoft\\ Teams\\ classic.app into the Terminal.
  4. Hit Enter.
  5. To remove Teams cache and other data, copy the rm -rf ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Microsoft/Teams command.
  6. Hit Enter.
To use Terminal commands to uninstall Teams from your Mac, you first need to quit the app. The quickest way to do this is right-click and press Quit if it’s located in your Dock.
Step 1. Quit the Microsoft Teams app
Next, you need to open Finder. From there, go to your Applications, Utilities, and press on Terminal to open it.
Step 2. Open Terminal
Once Terminal is open, copy in the following command to remove the Teams app from your Application folder: sudo rm -rf /Applications/Microsoft\\ Teams\\ c and then press Enter.
Step 3. Type in: sudo rm -rf /Applications/Microsoft\\ Teams\\ classic.app to remove the app and hit Enter
To make sure all traces of the Teams app are removed, you should copy into Terminal the following command: rm -rf ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Microsoft/Teams and press Enter. That should remove all the data and cache files left behind from removing the Microsoft Teams app
Step 4.Then, type in:  rm -rf ~/Library/Application\\ Support/Microsoft/Teams to remove remaining data, and then press Enter

3. Delete Teams with third-party tools

Sometimes manually deleting an app doesn’t always work out, and Terminal can be tricky if you’ve never used it before.
