Wondering if it’s possible to play Sims 4 on a MacBook? Yes, just ensure that your device meets system requirements. Moreover, you could struggle to download it if you’ve run out of space, and using MacKeeper’s Safe Cleanup tool is the best way to clean up your Mac. With it, you’ll benefit from not accidentally deleting anything that’s necessary for the functioning of your computer.
You can play Sims 4 on Mac, but it’s important that you understand how the system requirements may be different from what you’re used to. You can play via Origin.
System requirements for Sims 4 on Mac
To make Sims 4 compatible with your MacBook, you need all the components for smooth gameplay:
Mac OS X 10.11 or later installed
An Intel Core i5 (4 cores) processor
An Intel HD and Iris Graphics video card (at least the HD 4000 series)
A minimum of 8GB RAM
A note from our experts:
Besides the above requirements, you should also check if you’ve got enough space on your computer. If you have too many files and folders, your device won’t perform at an optimal level.
MacKeeper’s Safe Cleanup tool is excellent for freeing storage on your device before starting any gaming experience. You’ll delete only the files that are necessary to remove, allowing for maximum functionality without the downsides of not having enough space on your Mac.
At the bottom of the next window, click on Start Scan.
Clear the logs, caches, trash, etc., that you’d like to remove.
When the pop-up appears, select Empty Trash if you wish to do this.
Step 1. Cleaning > Safe Cleanup > Start ScanStep 2. Choose all the files and folders you want to remove by ticking the boxes. Then, select Clean Junk FilesStep 3. Select Empty Trash when the pop-up window appears
There are a handful of ways to install Sims 4 on your Mac. You can use Origin, which is one of the most common ways. However, it’s also possible to use the EA app instead.
We’ll discuss:
Downloading from Origin
Installing via the EA app
Let’s now discuss both in further detail.
1. Downloading from Origin
Downloading from Origin is my preferred option for playing The Sims 4 on Mac as it’s the most straightforward process. To do so, you’ll have to follow these instructions.
Wait for the game to install and purchase it if needed. Then, you should be able to play like normal.
Step 1. Go to the Origin website > select The Sims 4Step 2. Click on Download Now
A hint from our team:
If Origin isn’t working on Mac, you can do several things to fix the issue, such as running First Aid and updating macOS.
2. Installing via EA app
It’s also possible to play The Sims 4 via the EA app. However, you’ll need to create an EA account if you don’t already have one. Below are the instructions you should follow:
Choose where you want to save the game and commence the download.
Alternative methods to run Sims 4 on Mac
While there are other ways to run the Sims 4 on your Mac, I don’t recommend using these as they’re more complex. Nonetheless, I’ve included the instructions below for:
Using Boot Camp
Using cloud gaming services
1. Using Boot Camp
Boot Camp can help you play The Sims 4 on your Mac if your device has compatibility issues. This method is best used on Intel-based computers, and it’s one of the best ways to play Windows games on your Mac. Here are the instructions you should follow:
Search for Boot Camp in Spotlight and select Boot Camp Assistant.
Run the instructions on your device until you’ve installed Windows before downloading and playing The Sims 4.
2. Using cloud gaming services
You can use cloud gaming services to play The Sims 4 when it’s not available locally. For example, it’s possible to enjoy the game via Steam if you have an account. If that’s your preferred choice, you can learn how to get Steam on Mac.
Another option is Xbox Cloud Gaming, which will work well if you have a Microsoft profile, a gaming controller, and an Xbox. However, when playing via cloud services, you’ll need to ensure that your internet connection is working as it should be.
Plenty of ways to play The Sims 4 on your Mac
You can play The Sims 4 on your device in many ways, with some being more complex than others. For example, you can either play via Origin or use a third-party cloud gaming app. Starting with the simplest option, before moving on to the more complex ones if needed, is a good idea.
Before you play The Sims 4, it’s important that your device is set up correctly. Clearing out needless junk files is one way to do this. Remember that MacKeeper’s Safe Cleanup solution is the easiest way to clear your device.
