  1. Open the Safari app on your Mac.
  2. Choose View > Customise Toolbar.
  3. Then, you can add, remove or rearrange the toolbar items by dragging them.
To customize Safari on your Mac, begin by opening up the browsing in a new window/ Then navigate to the left-hand panel menu to find the View option. Once you click on View, you’ll be able to press Customise Toolbar.

After proceeding to click on Customise Toolbar, a pop-up box will appear where you’ll be able to edit, add and change Safari to personalise it to your needs and preference.

1. Customizing Safari Start Page

  2. Click on Preferences > General.
  3. From the pop-up menu, you can click on Advanced to alter the Safari start page.
To customize your Safari’s start page, open the browser and click on Preferences to bring up the pop-up menu. From there you can edit and manage your Safari start page settings to make them best suit your needs.

2. Personalized background and themes

Another fun way to add some color to Safari is by adding a background image. We love the pre-made options, but uploading your image would also work well.

 

Here’s how to add a background image on Safari:

  1. Open Safari on Mac.
  2. Press on the three-line icon at the bottom right of the page.
  3. In the pop-up box, click on Backgrounds.
  4. You can choose a pre-made background or press + to use your image.
To add a background to safari, you first need to open the browser in a new window. Then will safari opens, you'll see a three-line icon at the bottom page in the right corner. Click the icon to access the background function.
Step 1. In a new Safari window, look for the three-line icon and click on it
Once you press on the three-line icon, this pop-up box will appear. Tick the Background Image option and look though the pre-made options. You can also click on + to find your image saved on your MacBook to apply to safari's background.
Step 2. In the pop-up box, tick Backgrounds, and browse the options or add your own

3. Change the Safari toolbar

4. Manage privacy and security settings

While it’s great to customize Safari on Mac, it’s equally important to manage your privacy and security settings.

 

Here’s how to manage your privacy and security settings in Safari:

  1. Open Safari > Preferences.
  2. In Privacy tick: Prevent cross-site tracking and Block all cookies.
  3. Switch to the Security to enable Warn when visiting a fraudulent website.
  4. To clear browsing data, click Manage Website Data and Remove All.
To manage privacy and security settings on Safari, all you need to do is open the Safari preference menu. From here you'll be able to alter your security settings. Begining with the Privacy tab, make sure to tick  Prevent cross-site tracking and Block all cookies.
Step 1. In Safari open preferences and in the pop-up menu, begin by going to the Privacy tab
Next, press on the Security tab and tick next to fraudulent sites: Warn when visiting a fraudulent website. This will help your Mac keep you safe from entering unsupported or fraudulent websites that could comprise your Mac's integrity.
Step 2.  Then click on the Security tab to alter and secure your browsing online
All that's left, to keep your browsing secure and private, is to go back to the Privacy tab and click on Manage Website Data. From here you'll be able to select or press Remove all and then Done to clear your mac of any saved browsing data
Step 3. Finally, click on Manage Website Data and press Remove All to clear browsing data

5. Customize Safari extensions

If you regularly rely on Safari extensions, like we do, to keep you safe while online, it’s important to ensure they’re installed properly.

 

Here’s how to customize your extensions in case they need updating or changing:

  1. Open Safari > Preferences.
  2. Go to the Extensions tab to view installed extensions.
  3. Enable, disable, or remove extensions as needed.
  4. For more choices, click on More Extensions to download more macOS-supported extensions available in the App Store.
To customize your Safari extensions, you just need to open your search engine Preference menu and click on the Extensions tab
Step 1. Open up the Safari search engine preferences menu and go to Extensions
In the Extensions tab, you'll be able to check, untick or install any saved third-party software you want to keep or remove from your Macbook.
Step 2. In the Extensions tab, you can edit, manage and remove your installed extensions
If you are not seeing an Extension you want, you can click on More Extensions to be taken to the App Store where you can browse and install macOS-supported software to Safari
Step 3. You can also click on More Extensions to Get more options from the App Store

6. Change appearance and interface

Here’s how you can change your Safari interface:

  1. Open Safari preferences.
  2. Click on the General tab.
  3. Go through each option and make the necessary amendments to fit your needs, including File Download location and Page Favorites.
If you now want to change the Safari appearance and interface you can once again do so by opening Safari Preferences. In the General tab, you can edit your favourites, homepage, new windows and file download locations to meet your needs.

7. Use font and text options

If you find it hard to read small text or prefer a specific font style, customizing Safari’s font and text settings can enhance your browsing experience.

 

Here’s how to easily adjust your font and text options:

  1. In Safari Preferences, go to the Advanced tab.
  2. Tick the box for Never use font sizes smaller than and adjust the slider.
  3. You can also use the View menu to adjust page zoom.
To edit the font and text on Safari, you will need to open the Safari Preferences menu and open the Advanced tab. From there, you can tick the Never use font sizes smaller than and use the size adjust option to make the text bigger or smaller.

Afterwards, you can then go to the View content menu option in a Safari window. From View, you can scroll until you see the Zoom options that you can use to alter the page view.
